SA’s Covid-19 cases rise by more than 9 000 in 24 hours

The Department of Health confirmed 108 new deaths in the same period.

South Africa’s Covid-19 cases now stands at 177 124 with 9 064 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours, and 86 298 recoveries.

According to the National Department of Health, 39 025 tests were conducted bringing the total number of tests to 1 745 153. The department reported 108 more deaths, which brings the total number of deaths to 2 952.

According the National Institute of Communicable Diseases, 100 602 of the positive cases are female and 75 335 male. Gauteng has the highest number of new cases with 4 411, followed by the Eastern Cape with 1 554.
