Secunda man in court for wife’s murder

A husband remains in custody following his brief appearance in court today after his wife’s body was found hidden in their Mpumalanga home last week.

A 43-year-old man remains in custody following his brief appearance in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court today in connection with the murder of his wife, René.

The Ridge Times reports that Magistrate Cynthia Magalankanqa postponed Werner Müller’s case to April 28 for a bail application.

This follows his arrest in Mozambique last Tuesday, after he allegedly fled Secunda.

The arrest follows the discovery of René’s body in a bag in an outside room of her townhouse in Danie Theron Street on April 13.

The couple had been married since February.

Families of both the accused and the deceased attended the proceedings, where Müller was represented by Tebogo Phane of Aphane Attorneys.
