Secunda scrapyard explosion: Body parts found scattered on the scene

It is believed two people have died while three others sustained injuries after an explosion yesterday morning.

The carnage from an explosion at a scrapyard near the Secunda dump site, made it difficult for emergency workers to determine the number of fatalities.

The explosion shook the scrapyard before 09:00 yesterday morning.

According to a source, body parts were scattered everywhere on the scene making it difficult to determine how many people died. Authorities suspect it to be two.

Three other people were taken to hospital of which two were airlifted from Mediclinic Highveld and Laerskool Trichardt to other hospitals.

It is believed that scrap metal containers had exploded while the workers of the scrapyard were trying to open it.
