Security guards tied up during Polokwane school robbery

A manhunt is underway for four armed men who broke into a school, tied up security guards and made off with laptops.

Westenburg police are appealing to the public to provide any information that can assist in tracking down four men involved in an armed robbery at Nirvana Primary School in Polokwane this week.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the armed men forcibly entered the school in the early hours of Tuesday morning and went to the guardroom.

“They tied up the security officers, broke into the school and stole several laptops from the administration office,” Ledwaba says.

They also robbed the security officers of their cellphones, before fleeing the scene.

No injuries were reported.

A case of business robbery has been opened and the police have intensified investigations to identify and arrest the robbers. A manhunt is currently underway, he says.
