Security guards, who helped illegal immigrants escape, handed over to police

A statement from the office of the Provincial Commissioner of Gauteng stated that the seven security guards were then arrested for aiding in the escape of 37 illegal immigrants who escaped from the repatriation center on Saturday, 2 May.

The guards were all released on warning to appear before the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 19 May. Two are still outstanding.

Since the escape of the illegal immigrants, no one has been rearrested. Police are still calling for anyone who may have information that could lead to the rearrest of the illegal immigration to report to the nearest police station or call the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or by using MySAPS App that can be downloaded.
