Sekhukhune United FC midfielder Shaune Mogaile to appear in court

A soccer player facing culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving charges after a crash which claimed the life of a 9-year-old girl is due to appear in court today.

The case against Sekhukhune United FC midfielder Shaune Mogaile will resume today after being transferred to the regional court from the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court.

Midrand Reporter reports that Mogaile faces culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving charges after his BMW veered off the road and ploughed head-on into Keo Mavimbela’s red Hyundai, killing her 9-year-old daughter, Gomolemo, on October 30, 2024, along Andrew Mpheto Drive.

Thando Khethiwa, the son of Mavimbela’s friend, Carol, was also critically injured.

Mogaile was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

It’s further alleged that he fled the accident scene and handed himself over to the Rabie Ridge Police later that day.

Mogaile was granted R20 000 bail.
