Shebeshxt remains in custody as bail application postponed

Although Lehlogonolo Chauke appeared in court with new legal representation, his bail application was postponed due to court officials being unavailable.

Musician Lehlogonolo ‘Shebeshxt’ Chauke appeared at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Friday with a new legal representative, Advocate Michael Khumalo, reports Polokwane Review.

Khumalo told the court that he has informed Chauke’s former lawyers from Ramusi Attorneys, as well as the court, that he will now be representing the accused.

He also indicated that they intend to submit a new bail application following developments in the case.

This comes after Chauke’s bail application was denied in December 2025, and his appeal was rejected in January this year.

The case has been transferred to the regional court, with the next appearance scheduled for May 15.

However, with magistrate Godfrey Netshiozwi and State Prosecutor Advocate Kgaogelo Lekoloane unavailable for proceedings on Friday, the bail application could not be heard.
