Six dead, several injured in South Coast crash

Several vehicles, including two bakkies, four cars and a truck, were involved in a serious crash near Port Edward yesterday.

Six people have been killed in a multi-vehicle accident on the R61 near Port Edward late yesterday afternoon.

This according to Glen Preston of Med-Evac, who was among medical personnel who attended the scene.

He said the accident took place near Caribbean Estates.

A further five people, seriously injured, were treated by paramedics and transported to hospital.

Preston said the accident involved two bakkies, four cars and a truck carrying bricks.

Netcare 911, KwaZulu Private Amabulance and other emergency services were also on scene, including from SAPS and Ray Nkonyeni Municipality.

The road was closed in both directions.
