Six people killed in N4 crash near Middelburg
It is believed that all six victims were killed during the impact of the crash.

First responders on an accident scene on the N4 near Middelburg, says six people traveling in one vehicle, were killed when their sports utility vehicle (SUV) crashed down the overpass where the R35 (Bethal Road) crosses the highway.

Information from responders on the scene, is that the vehicle was travelling on the N4 from Mbombela to Gauteng when it lost control and crashed down the gap of the overpass landing on the R35. All six victims are believed to have been killed on impact.
Spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Moeti Mmusi, the victims consist of five men and one woman.
Mmusi says an investigation will determine the cause of the accident, but it is suspected that fatigue played a role.
Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Vusi Shongwe, has appealed to drivers to use the road more cautiously.
“We are deeply saddened by this development. We are again appealing to drivers to be more vigilant on the road. Those driving long distances are advised to take a break when they feel tired because fatigue is dangerous.”
