Skeletal remains found floating in dam in North West

A fisherman discovered a human skeleton in the Hartbeespoort Dam, prompting an ongoing police investigation.

A human skeleton was discovered floating in the Hartbeespoort Dam in the North West yesterday afternoon after a fisherman spotted the remains, reports Pretoria Rekord.

Hartbeespoort police spokesperson Captain Majang Skalkie says the police received a report about a human skeleton floating in the dam at around 15:00.

“We confirm that the police in Hartbeespoort have registered an Inquest docket following the discovery of a human skeleton,” says Skalkie.

“Upon arriving at the scene, the police found the skeleton and removed it.”

He confirms that the investigation is ongoing.
