Son allegedly kills mother in argument about loud music in Limpopo
The police are urging the public to come forward with information that can help them track down a man who allegedly killed his elderly mother.
The Limpopo SAPS has launched a manhunt for a 37-year-old man who allegedly killed his 77-year-old mother.
The incident happened in Ga-Mampa Village in Mecklenburg, near Burgersfort, on November 19 at about 21:00.
According to the SAPS, the victim was with her 17-year-old grandson when her son arrived home and started playing music loudly. The woman tried to reprimand him, but he became aggressive and started physically attacking her.
“The grandson tried to intervene, but he was also assaulted, and that’s when he ran to the neighbours for assistance.
“The police were summoned to the scene, and upon arrival, they found the victim lying unconscious on the floor and bleeding heavily. She had sustained injuries to her body. She was certified dead on the scene by emergency services. The suspect had already fled the scene,” says Limpopo SAPS’ spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Maluleka.
He confirmed that the SAPS has opened a case of murder.
Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe strongly condemned the continuous acts of gender-based violence perpetrated against elderly persons in the province.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Lieutenant Colonel Livingstone Muluadzi on 082 414 3070 or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111. They can also visit their nearest police station or use the My SAPS app.
