Stage 2 load-shedding to continue today

Eskom has suspended Stage 4 load-shedding and is implementing Stage 2 until further notice, with more generation capacity expected to be recovered overnight.

Eskom has confirmed that Stage 4 load-shedding was suspended at 05:00 on Tuesday, with the power utility implementing Stage 2 load-shedding until further notice.

According to The Witness, the utility said this decision follows the recovery of eight out of 10 generation units, restoring 3 808MW of power.

An additional 1 146MW is expected to be recovered overnight.

While emergency reserves are recovering well, Eskom said further replenishment is needed to reach sufficient levels.

Unplanned outages stand at 13 690MW, with planned maintenance at 7 245MW.

Eskom said it will provide the next update later today or sooner if there are significant changes.
