Standerton court date looms for 2 caught with R60 000 dagga

A routine patrol on the R23 between Morgenzon and Standerton led to the discovery of five plastic bags packed with dagga in a Nissan X-Trail.

Two suspects are expected to appear in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court following their arrest earlier today (October 2) for possession of dagga valued at R60 000.

According to Ridge Times, members of the Secunda Flying Squad spotted a silver-grey Nissan X-Trail travelling towards Standerton at about 08:30 during routine patrols along the R23 between Morgenzon and Standerton.

Officers stopped and searched the vehicle, which had two occupants, and found five black plastic bags filled with dagga.

The suspects, aged 37 and 44, were arrested and charged with dealing in dagga.

The Mpumalanga police commissioner, Lieutenant General Apaphia Modise, commended the Secunda Flying Squad members for their vigilance and swift action.
