Suspect arrested after man dies from hockey stick assault in Mossel Bay township
A KwaNonqaba man has died from severe head injuries, with police confirming an arrest for murder as investigations into the deadly assault continue.
Police in KwaNonqaba, Mossel Bay, have arrested a suspect on a charge of murder following the death of a 30-year-old man who was beaten to death, allegedly with a hockey stick.
Mossel Bay Advertiser reports that, according to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, officers were called to a Mossel Bay hospital at about 10:00 on Saturday.
The victim was found with multiple head injuries believed to have been inflicted with a hockey stick.
Incident location
A preliminary investigation suggests the incident occurred in Dadoo Street in the township KwaNonqaba.
The man was declared dead by medical personnel at the hospital.
The suspect is expected to appear in court once formally charged and is facing a charge of murder.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known and the identity of the suspect has not been released.
