Suspect who allegedly fatally stabbed a taxi driver in eMalahleni granted bail
A man accused of fatally stabbing a taxi driver is due to again appear in court next month.
Sizwe Mahlangu, who allegedly fatally stabbed taxi driver Thabo Sydney Mampuru in 2022, was granted bail on Friday.
Mahlangu appeared in the Witbank Magistrate’s Court and was granted R15 000 bail.
The stabbing took place in Hoopoo Street in Reyno Ridge, eMalahleni.
After evading law enforcement for two years, Mahlangu was arrested in Siyabuswa on May 5.
According to reports, Mahlangu is alleged to have gotten into a heated argument with Mampuru over the transportation of schoolchildren.
The altercation escalated, leading to Mahlangu allegedly fatally stabbing the victim.
The case was postponed to July 2.
