Suspended SABC CEO James Aguma to face disciplinary committee

Aguma is accused of providing false information under oath during the internal disciplinary proceedings against Hlaudi Motsoeneng.

Suspended SABC acting CEO James Aguma is expected to appear before a disciplinary committee on Tuesday in Johannesburg, reports The Citizen.

Aguma was suspended in May by the public broadcaster’s interim board for allegedly providing false information under oath during the internal disciplinary proceedings of the SABC’s fired former chief operating officer, Hlaudi Motsoeneng.

In his founding affidavit submitted in Motsoeneng’s disciplinary hearing, Aguma said he had given him permission to hold a press conference on April 19, in which Motsoeneng defended his controversial 90% local music content quota and slammed parliament’s ad-hoc committee that probed the affairs of the SABC.

He also faces charges related to tender irregularities and fruitless and wasteful expenditure during his tenure as CEO.
