Taxi driver gunned down in Carletonville

While filling up his vehicle at a local fuel station, two assailants walked up to him and the attendant and fired shots at the driver.

A member of the Carletonville Local and Long-Distance Taxi Association is the latest victim in the ongoing taxi violence in the Carletonville area.

The 57-year-old driver was killed last on Wednesday night at approximately 19:50. He had stopped to refuel his white Toyota Quantum taxi at Slabbert Motors in Station Street in Carletonville and was speaking to a filling station attendant when two men walked up to them.

The unknown assailants pulled out firearms and brutally shot the driver before running away.

He died on the scene.

The murder case is being investigating by die police’s special taxi violence unit and no arrests have been made yet.
