A 17-year-old girl was raped while out jogging in Mountain View, Pretoria, on Wednesday morning.
Police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said the incident took place at about 8.50am, the Rekord Moot reported.
The girl was jogging towards the mountain when she was attacked by a knife-wielding man.
He stripped her naked and raped her several times before fleeing the scene, he said.
Msimango said the suspect was still on the run.
“We condemn such incidents whereby thugs take advantage of the vulnerability of women and children. We appeal to the community to be cautious and if possible avoid jogging or cycling in secluded areas alone.”
