Thieves break into KZN police station

Police officers reported for duty this morning when they found that three offices were broken into.

Three offices were broken into at the Verulam Police Station, near Durban, last night.

Prem Balram, the spokesperson for Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), said police officers reporting for duty this morning discovered that the sector manager’s office and the communications and supply chain management offices had been broken into.

He said several valuables were stolen.

In July 2023, a branded Verulam SAPS vehicle was stolen from the police station. It was later recovered on Court Lane in the Verulam CBD. The stereo and spare tyre were stolen.

“A hijacked Isuzu bakkie recovered by reaction officers in Mhlasini, KZN, last year (2023) was [also] stolen from the Verulam SAPS a week later,” said Balram.

He added that the above information was supplied to them by police officers stationed at the Verulam SAPS.
