Three armed robbers on the run

Three armed men who allegedly robbed a shop in Onderstepoort, Pretoria, are still on the run.

Pretoria North police confirmed the shop was robbed on Saturday, Rekord Centurion reported.

Police pokesperson Lieutenant Rebecca Phatlane said the three robbers entered the store just before 8am. They bought beer and cigarettes before leaving.

“A few minutes later, they returned, ordered the store employee at gunpoint to the back and ransacked the shop,” said Phatlane.

The men made off with R20 000 in cash and a laptop.

Phatlane said no one was injured, and no arrests had been made.

This after a 53-year-old woman was killed by a stray bullet fired by fleeing robbers at the Kempton Park Railway Station, on the East Rand, on Saturday.

Martha Tshifularo was allegedly shot and killed when suspects fired random shots while fleeing an armed robbery scene, Kempton Express reported.

The suspects had reportedly just stolen money and liquor from the Cambridge Liquor Store at Kempstar Mall.

According to police spokesperson Captain Jethro Mtshali, the suspects fled the scene through the subway into Kempton Railway Station and went on to the street, where a getaway car was waiting.

Case of murder and business robbery are being investigated.
