Three arrested after high-speed chase
Two suspects have been arrested, while another escaped, after a high-speed chase on the P91 highway in Kempton Park, Gauteng.
The two suspects were arrested in connection with the possession of stolen property yesterday when they were found driving in a stolen car, Kempton Express reported.
Sebenza police spokesperson Constable Sharon Tshotshothso said police were patrolling the area when they spotted the speeding Toyota bakkie, followed by a white BMW, and gave chase.
The bakkie was brought to a standstill near Greenstone, where the two men tried to make a getaway, Tshotshotsho added.
Police fired a warning shot, after which the men were arrested.
A third suspect in the BMW fled the scene, police said.
If anyone has information on the whereabouts of the third suspect, they can call Sebenza police on 011-400-6000.
In a separate incident, a suspect was arrested after a high-speed chase that ended in an accident on Grayston Bridge, Sandton, in the north of Johannesburg, last Friday.
Police spokesperson Captain Kym Cloete said the chase began just before 10am at Norwood Mallwhen security personnel and Metro police spotted two suspicious vehicles.
Cloete said the suspects immediately sped off as they were approached by Metro police.
“A chase ensued in which the police also got involved,” said Cloete.
Cloete added the police lost track of the Ranger during the chase, while the Polo was involved in an accident with a civilian car on the bridge.
