Three arrested amid Pretoria unrest

Three men have been arrested for possession of petrol bombs.

Three men were arrested in Elandspoort on Friday, for possession of petrol bombs, reports the Pretoria Moot Rekord.

The arrest was made amid continued unrest ahead of the anti-foreigner march in the CBD.

A Pretoria West resident said a special police unit spotted five men breaking into a shop on the corner of Van Den Berg Street and Mike Du Toit Road.

Officers managed to arrest three men, but two got away.

“Officers found a five litre container filled with petrol as well as cloths on one of the suspects,” said the resident.

“Another suspect cut himself when he broke the shop window. He was found with found two Savannah bottles filled with petrol.”

The three men were taken to the Pretoria West Police Station.
