Traditional healer allegedly rapes 13-year-old in Mpumalanga township

The man allegedly kept the girl at his home for three days before sending her home without medical help.

Police in eMbalenhle near Secunda have opened a case of rape after the mother of a 13-year-old girl alleged that a traditional healer had raped her child.

According to Constable Busi Mthethwa, eMbalenhle Police spokesperson, the complainant [the mother] said her child was ill so she took the child to a traditional healer at Ext 22, eMbalenhle.

Mthethwa said the traditional healer allegedly told the mother to leave because he was going to attend to the girl later.

While the girl was waiting for the healer, he allegedly prepared a room for her to sleep in because it was already late.

The traditional healer allegedly raped the child for three days while she was kept in the room.

She was then sent back home without medical help.

Mthethwa said the suspect is known, but no arrest has yet been made.

The case was referred to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses unit for investigation.
