Truck crashes into construction workers in Pietermaritzburg, multiple injured

Some of the injured were entrapped and had to be feed in specialised rescue operations.

Multiple construction workers were injured on this morning after a truck crashed into them in an accident on the N3 southbound, heading towards Durban, at Town Hill in Pietermaritzburg.

Midlands EMS spokesperson Roland Robertson said that by 10:30, crews were still at the scene of the accident.

“Emergency services, including advanced life support paramedics, are treating several patients on the scene. Some of the injured are currently entrapped and require specialized rescue operations to free them.

“Crews are working tirelessly to stabilize the patients before transporting them to nearby medical facilities,” said Robertson at the time.

Authorities were on-site to investigate the cause of the accident and manage traffic.
