Tshwane firefighter (59) murdered outside workplace

The 59-year-old woman was murdered outside her workplace on Wednesday evening in Bronkhorspruit.

The murder of a 59-year-old woman outside her workplace on Wednesday evening in Bronkhorspruit has shocked the Tshwane firefighting department.

The incident happened at around 20:10, when Senile Annah Mnguni was found shot several times, dressed in her Tshwane Fire Department uniform on Kommando Street. Between four and five gunshots were heard, with injuries sustained to the head.

Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said the department was in shock. According to fellow firefighters, Mnguni went out to meet an unknown person she had just spoken to on the phone.

“They then heard gunshots only moments after she had left the station.”

Mabaso said the colleagues went outside to look for her and her body was found about 100m from the station with multiple gunshot wounds.

“A paramedic certified her dead on the scene.” The emergency services department offered their condolences to her family, colleagues and friends for her untimely passing. “The department has tasked the employee wellness section to offer counselling support for employees and the deceased’s family.”

The motive for the killing was not yet known, he said. The incident was being investigated, according to Bronkhorstspruit police spokesperson Constable Munyadziwa Ramovha.

Ramovha also confirmed that Mnguni was shot several times in her face and head.
