A man (64) was asleep at his home in Kwla Kwla, Southport when he was allegedly awoken at 3.30am by two mean wearing balaclavas and gloves, South Coast Herald reported.

The man said the robbers had gained entry by forcing open a window.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said that one of the robbers had gone into one of the rooms and threatened the man’s wife.

“According to the homeowner, he noticed that one of the men had a firearm around his waist,” said Wiid.

The robbers made off with cell phones, a microwave, food and other electrical appliances.

The incident was reported at Southport SAPS and a case opened.

On the same morning, at about the same time, a 27-year-old woman was allegedly awoken by an intruder at her home in Caro Road, Southport.

“The intruder grabbed the woman and kicked her.

Her father woke up and ran to her assistance but the man pushed her father over and fled, taking a cell phone,” said Wiid.

A house robbery case is being investigated.

No arrests have been made in either case yet.

On September, a man was shot and wounded by two men during ahouse robbery in Hesteapark, Pretoria.

The 44-year-old was shot in the lower part of his body around 3am, after robbers broke into his home through a window.

No arrests had been made.
