Two killed in stabbing at KZN high school

A stabbing incident that left two men dead has shocked a school community in Osizweni, Newcastle.

Two men, allegedly attempting to rob schoolchildren, were stabbed to death at a Mzamo High School last Wednesday.

SAPS communications officer Lizzy Arumugam says the two unidentified men were waiting to accost students outside the school gates.

When they saw that the students were retreating back into the school premises, they entered the main gate armed with knives and stones.

“The suspects were trying to rob the schoolchildren of their cell phones. The schoolchildren mobilised and fought back.

“The suspects were killed during the fight, while two students were rushed to Madadeni Provincial Hospital with stab wounds,” Arumugam says.

Cases of double murder, attempted murder and assault with grievous bodily harm have been opened.

Police investigations are ongoing.
