Tzaneen police investigate farm robbery

A man was shot in the leg as he and his friend attempted to disarm a man who shot them while walking on a farm.

Police in Tzaneen, Limpopo, are investigating a case of attempted murder and robbery with a firearm that took place at a farm in Tzaneen on Thursday.

Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba says the victim and his friend were approached by an armed African male while walking on the farm.

A man demanded the victims’ cellphones and instructed them to place the phones on the ground.

He picked up the phones, but one of the victims attempted to disarm the perpetrator and a shot was fired.

The victims managed to escape before one of them realised he had been shot in the leg and went to the nearby hospital for medical treatment.

They then reported the incident to the police where a case of attempted murder and robbery with a firearm was opened.
