UPDATE: Four arrested for Durban murder
Four suspects have been arrested in Hillcrest for the murder of Mark Cahill, whose decomposed body was found in his Crestholme home in Durban.
Police have confirmed Cahill’s house was found ransacked when they entered the property, and some of the stolen goods were recovered after the arrest of the four men yesterday, Highway Mailreported.
Cahill’s neighbour said: “We have been trying to contact his family, but we have had no luck. I have offered to assist with the funeral arrangements, but I can’t go ahead with the preparations until his next-of-kin have been informed.”
Police are still searching for the family of Cahill.
Cahill’s body was reportedly discovered by a friend who had gone to the house after unsuccessfully trying to contact him numerous times.
Police spokesperson Constable Ndumiso Manqele said the friend entered the house through an unlocked door and noticed a strange odour inside. After searching the house, he found the man dead in a cupboard.
In a separate incident, a decomposed body of a man was found in a ditch in Gcilima, near Southbroom, in KwaZulu-Natal in January.
The man identified as Havenga had been reported missing on January 20.
