Video: 12 armed men rob cash van in Kwa-Thema

Armed men pounced on a cash-in-transit van and three guards travelling on a road in the township south-west of Springs.

Police are investigating a cash-in-transit heist after 12 men robbed a cash van along 12th Road, Deep Level in Kwa-Thema south-west of Springs.

It is alleged a G4S cash-in-transit van, with three security personnel, was travelling along 12th Road yesterday when it collided with a silver Mercedes-Benz with an unknown registration.

Kwa-Thema police spokesperson Constable Nkululeko Magudulela says the suspects started firing at the van using high-calibre firearms.

“The G4S van came to a halt near the Enokuthula cemetery. The suspects ordered the security personnel out of the van and bombed the van. They took an undisclosed amount of money,” explains Magudulela.

He adds no one was injured during the incident and all role players were activated.
