Video: Arrest on N3 after bus stoned near Bergville
A suspect linked to ATDF-SA has been arrested after violence, including truck stoppages and a bus stoning investigation.
A person believed to be associated with the All Truck Driver Forum South Africa (ATDF-SA) has been arrested for allegedly inciting violence on the N3 near Bergville, KZN, this morning (May 30).
According to Ladysmith Gazette, police said they found a group of people stopping trucks on the highway before suspects fled into nearby bushes, abandoning a white Isuzu bakkie.
An ATDF-SA banner and stones were found inside the vehicle.
Bakkie owner and alleged accomplices arrested
The owner of the bakkie, along with two truck drivers in a VW Polo who allegedly came to collect him, was arrested.
Police also allege that the bakkie owner can be linked to the stoning of a bus near the N3 Colenso interchange shortly before his arrest.
The suspects remain in custody and could face additional charges as investigations continue, according to the SAPS Facebook page.
In a video posted by Ladysmith Gazette, it can be seen that traffic remains normal on the N3. Trucks are moving freely through the Bergville Toll Plaza:
