Video: Businessman gunned down in Morningside

Three men were arrested after a shooting incident in Sandton yesterday, which claimed the life of a middle-aged man.

A businessman who was shot multiple times outside his home in Morningside, Sandton, yesterday, has died.

According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, the middle-aged man was found seated in his motor vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.

“Emergency care practitioners worked fervently to stabilise him before he was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care, but unfortunately, he has passed on.”

Local police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says after the shooting incident in Coleraine Drive, a team of detectives – led by the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit – was activated to work on the case.

“During the evening of December 7, the team, with the assistance of private security companies, followed up on information that led to the three suspects who were found driving the vehicle that we believe was used during the shooting. One of the suspects had a firearm that will be subjected to ballistic testing.”

She adds that all three suspects are expected to appear before court soon on charges of murder since the victim succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the family on the passing of their loved one and wish them strength during this incredibly difficult time.”
