Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said the fire department and police found the roadway obstructed by the motorcycle and accident debris, South Coast Herald reported.

“The patient was found lying on the roadway with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital accompanied by an advanced life support paramedic,” added Botha.

In a separate incident, a motorcyclist died when his motorbike collided with a bakkie in Kempton Park, east of Johannesburg, in April.

”According to bystanders on the scene the motorbike caught alight during the crash, which resulted in the bakkie also catching fire. The rider of the bike was found a few metres away from the bike with extensive burn wounds and multiple injuries. It is understood that bystanders extinguished the flames on the injured rider as well as the bike and the bakkie,” said ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak.

The motorcyclist died on arrival in hospital. The driver of the bakkie, who was alone in the vehicle, was not injured, added Vermaak.
