Video: Scholar transport driver shot dead outside Johannesburg South school

Learners using scholar transport were physically unharmed but deeply shaken by a shooting.

Moffat View police are investigating a murder case following a suspected gang-related fatal shooting of a man outside Suidheuwels Primary School in South Hills, Johannesburg South, today.

The victim, a scholar transport driver, was killed while learners were inside the vehicle. The children are now receiving counselling at the school to help them cope with the trauma.

Moffat View SAPS station commander Colonel Shunny Govender confirmed that the shooting appears to be gang related.

A murder case has been opened, but no arrests have been made.

At the time of publishing, forensic teams were processing the scene, with the victim’s body still inside the vehicle.

The deceased’s family had arrived at the scene and were waiting for the body to be removed.

Ward 57 councillor Faeeza Chame, accompanied by councillor Rashieda Landis, says the shooting is not an isolated incident as two people were shot dead near Montanus Primary School on Saturday.
