VIDEO: Shoot-out follows botched OLX trade

CCTV footage showing a shoot-out has emerged after a man who allegedly tried to buy a car through classifieds site OLX was robbed of his money in Van Riebeeck Park, on the East Rand.

It is alleged the seller of the car arranged to pick up the buyer to take him to Randburg to view the car on 28 September along Blignaut Street, Kempton Express reported.

Afraid it could be scam, the victim reportedly took his own firearm with him.

After picking up the potential buyer, the men drove into Blignaut Street, pretending it was a shortcut to Randburg through Tembisa.

The “sellers” asked if he had the money, which the victim confirmed. They grabbed his money, forced him out of the car, fired a warning shot in his direction and drove off. He was slightly wounded in the leg.

In the footage, the victims is seen chasing and firing shots at the suspects as they drive off.

The car was reportedly found abandoned the next day.

Another incident, CCTV footage emerged showing a group of suspected fake police officershijacking a car at a traffic light in Mayfair, Johannesburg.

In the footage captured on July 30, on the corner of 6th and Church streets, the suspects’ vehicle is seen pulling over in front of the victim’s car at a traffic light.

Three suspects get out and one of them is seen approaching the passenger’s seat and seemingly produced some sort of identification.

The victim was ordered to the suspects’ vehicle, while another suspect drives off in the victim’s car.
