Video: Shots fired as robbers blow up cash van in Benoni

Little details are known about the cash-in-transit robbery that occurred near the Lanyon Bridge in Lakefield.

The Gauteng police have confirmed a cash-in-transit (CIT) heist which occurred this morning.

It’s understood that a G4S van that was travelling near Lanyon Bridge in Lakefield, Benoni, was attacked by a group of men who bombed the cash van. Lakefield Avenue and Lanyon Street was closed due to the CIT robbery.

Emergency services, police and local security companies attended the scene.

The Benoni City Times is awaiting more information from the police.
