Watch: Homes, cars and roads damaged as storm hits Limpopo
A severe thunderstorm battered Fetakgomo Tubatse, with residents describing the terrifying moments as roofs lifted and flooding hit the area.
A vicious thunderstorm damaged homes in and around Fetakgomo Tubatse in Limpopo yesterday afternoon.
Lowvelder reports the heavy storm also damaged the parking area at the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) chamber in Burgersfort, with staff vehicles seen on video trapped in the parking lot.
The roof of the carport collapsed due to the rain and wind.
Vendors and motorists affected
Small shacks used by street vendors were dismantled by the storm and hail damaged several cars. In the surrounding villages, roads were flooded and damaged, with motorists struggling to access their homes.
Debris and soil covered the R37 in Ga-Mashamothane, the Old Penge Road (D2537), and the road linking Praktiseer and the R37.
The storm uprooted several trees outside the town and in nearby villages.

Residents describe terrifying experience
“We love and enjoy rain but when it destroys our stuff, it is unacceptable. I was scared I was going to die when the storm slightly lifted the roof of my shack. It was like a tornado, a heavy one,” revealed Praktiseer resident Thabo Monama.
FTLM employees’ vehicles were still inaccessible at about 16:30.
