A vicious thunderstorm damaged homes in and around Fetakgomo Tubatse during the afternoon of November 19.
The heavy storm also damaged the parking area at the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) chamber in Burgersfort, with staff vehicles seen on video trapped in the parking lot.

Small shacks used by street vendors were also dismantled by the storm. Hail damaged several cars. In the surrounding villages, roads were flooded and damaged, with motorists struggling to access their homes.

Debris and soil covered the R37 in Ga-Mashamothane, the Old Penge Road (D2537), as well as the road linking Praktiseer and the R37.

The storm uprooted several trees outside the town and nearby villages.

“We love and enjoy rain but when it destroys our stuff, it is unacceptable. I was scared I was going to die when the storm slightly lifted the roof of my shack. It was like a tornado, a heavy one,” revealed Praktiseer resident, Thabo Monama.
The FTLM employees’ vehicles were still inaccessible at about 16:30.
