Four security guards were injured when robbers bombed a cash-in-transit van and took an undisclosed amount of money.

A manhunt is underway for 20 suspects after a violent cash-in-transit (CIT) heist in Atteridgeville, Pretoria, where a van was bombed and four security guards injured.

According to an article published by Pretoria Rekord, police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo says the CIT robbery took place in Atteridgeville at approximately 09:15 yesterday.

“It is reported that a CIT van with four guards was travelling from East to West en route to Nkomo Village in WF Nkomo Road, Atteridgeville.”

Masondo says that near the N4 off-ramp, the cash van was forced to stop by a white Mercedes Benz and was approached by about 20 robbers.

“The suspects bombed the cash vehicle and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.
