Watch: Newcastle SPCA urges vigilance as lion spotted roaming Ingogo
Authorities have cautioned residents to keep their distance while KZN Wildlife teams work to track a big cat’s movements.
The Newcastle SPCA has issued an urgent warning following reports of an adult male lion roaming in the Ingogo, KZN, area this morning.
Northern Natal News reports that people are urged not to approach, trap, chase or harm the animal. Instead, they should immediately report its location by sending a WhatsApp location pin to the SPCA’s emergency number at 072 337 0347.
KZN Wildlife has been informed and is following up to trace the big cat.
If you see anyone attempting to harm the lion, report the incident immediately to the SPCA and provide the location.
“Remember, it is a wild animal and should not be approached,” the Newcastle SPCA said.
