WATCH: Shona Ferguson laid to rest in private ceremony

Ferguson passed away on July 30 at Netcare Milpark Hospital from Covid-19-related complications.

The funeral service of media mogul, Shona Ferguson (47), is underway in Johannesburg at Fourways Park Cemetery with his family and close friends in attendance. Ferguson passed away on July 30 at Netcare Milpark Hospital from Covid-19-related complications.

Ferguson Films published a statement on Friday afternoon shortly after the news of Ferguson’s death went viral on social media. Initial reports said Ferguson was in ICU after having had heart surgery. The family statement disputes this stating that Ferguson had complications due to Covid-19.

Ferguson was married to actress and television mogul Connie Ferguson and together they produced a number of DStv shows including Rockville, The Queen and The Throne.

Connie read a heart felt message for her husband: “One thing that I know for sure my love, is that you are walking with the Lord, and that you have been preparing for this day all your life, because everything that you did my skat, you did with a passion. Never known anyone as resilient as you, you have taught me so much. The past couple of days have been almost like a dream, really I still feel like I’m dreaming sometimes, it’s like I would wake up and none of this would be real, it will be all just a bad dream,” she said.

South Africans, including celebrities, took to social media to send messages of condolences and love to Uncle Sho, as he was affectionally known on social media and to his wife and family.
