Woman arrested for husband’s murder in Randfontein
A woman was arrested after she initially alleged that she and her husband were the victims of a crime, and that he was stabbed to death.

A 39-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the murder of her husband and orchestrating her own crime scene in Rikasrus, Randfontein.
This comes after her husband was found lying in a pool of blood at their place of residence on Thursday.
According to Randfontein police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendriks, the woman alleged that she and her husband were attacked by two men the previous night at around 23:00.
She initially alleged that she and her husband were the victims of a crime, and that he was stabbed to death. She said she was hit with a baseball bat, causing her to lose consciousness, and the robbers took off with their television and a cellphone.
“She alleged that the owner of the plot woke her up the following morning,” said Hendriks who added that the woman alluded to the fact that she might have been raped but was unsure, as her clothes were torn.
However, preliminary investigations at the scene revealed that the woman had orchestrated her own ‘crime scene’ and police officers found the television hidden in another room. They found the cellphone in the motor vehicle.
Randfontein Police Station commander Brigadier Mashole Manamela said he did not condone the killing of men.
“Gender-based violence is the main cause of murder involving couples, and men should also come forward if they are being abused.
“There are social workers to whom victims can talk if they face a problem. They can also use our victim-friendly room for abused male and females at Randfontein police station. We say no to gender-based violence,” said Manamela.
