Woman dies, 2 children stabbed in suspected KZN murder-suicide

A man is alleged to have killed his ex-wife and wounded their two children in a Montford attack, a tragedy that left the children orphaned after he took his own life.

Chatsworth, KZN, police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder after two children and a woman were stabbed, allegedly by her ex-husband, before he committed suicide.

Rising Sun reports that yesterday morning, amid the chaos of five suspects being shot dead by police in Moorton, news of further death and tragedy broke when a man was found hanged in Arena Park.

Shortly after this, further reports spread, indicating that the man had hanged himself after his ex-wife was murdered and his two children were stabbed, allegedly by him.

On Sunday, at approximately 07:00, an altercation occurred at a family home in Montford, says the communications officer of Chatsworth SAPS, Captain Cheryl Pillay.

“It is alleged that the ex-husband stabbed his wife and two children. The victims were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The wife passed away, while the two children remain stable in hospital.

“During the early hours of Monday morning, a security company discovered a male hanged at a local park. Police established that the victim was a male, who had allegedly committed the murder and attempted murder in Montford,” she adds.

Rising Sun’s sources said the children are just eight and 11 years old, and will be taken in by family after being orphaned in less than 24 hours.
