Woman shot 7 times in Bhekulwandle

A woman was gunned down in the KwaMakhutha policing precinct, allegedly shortly before she was due to appear in court as a witness.

A woman believed to be in her 50s was shot and killed at Bhekulwandle, situated inland from the main Amanzimtoti town centre, not far from Longacres Drive, this morning.

South Coast Sun reports the woman was shot seven times in the incident that happened just before 07:00.

A source who is familiar with the incident said it might have been a hit, as the woman was a witness in a kidnapping case and was scheduled to testify in court today.

Paramedics confirm fatal injuries

According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, the woman sustained gunshot wounds to her upper body.

“Paramedics assessed the patient, however, there was nothing they could do for her, and she was declared deceased on the scene,” said Jamieson.

Investigation underway

The area where the incident happened falls under the KwaMakhutha policing precinct, and an investigation is underway.
