Young man’s body found in Polokwane Golf Club dam

A grim discovery at the 17th hole of a Limpopo golf course left workers and management confronted with a tragic scene.

Police are investigating following the discovery of a young man’s body in a dam at the Polokwane Golf Club on Wednesday morning (October 7), reports Polokwane Review.

Club manager Wynand Pretorius said a general worker made the tragic discovery close to the 17th hole before alerting management.

“One of the general workers discovered the body of a young man floating in the dam close to the 17th hole this morning. He informed a greenkeeper who then contacted me. I rushed to the scene and notified the police,” Pretorius said.

Pretorius noted that the man was wearing black clothing and an armband indicating he had attended a festival at a nearby venue on Saturday (October 3).

“The young man was reported missing after he did not return to his family after the festival. It is not clear how he ended up in the dam. This is a very sad occasion for us and we extend our condolences to the family,” Pretorius said.

Police have been contacted and are expected to issue an official statement as information becomes available.
