Young mother of twins fights for her life after car crash in eMalahleni
A young mother, who was on her way to assist at a separate car accident, was critically injured after a crash with a BMW.
A 24-year-old woman is fighting for her life after she sustained serious injuries in a car accident in eMalahleni, Mpumalanga, on Thursday.
She has brain bleeding, lung and abdominal haemorrhaging, a rib puncturing her left lung, a broken jawbone, shattered teeth, and multiple broken bones. She is being treated at Witbank Hospital.
“Unable to breathe on her own, she is on a ventilator, with a chest tube draining the blood from her lungs. Doctors are keeping her sedated, hoping to stabilise her before they can assess the full extent of her injuries,” her friend Micheala Kruger said.
“Judy is also the mother of two beautiful 4-year-old twin boys who are too young to understand why their mommy is not coming home right now. They need her, and we are doing everything we can to ensure she gets the care she needs to return to them,” Kruger said.
Scheepers and Jaco Greyling, a tow truck driver, were on their way to assist at another accident on Thursday night when they were involved in a crash with a BMW.
Greyling sustained minor injuries.
Treatment at a private hospital is estimated to exceed R250 000.
To help raise funds to transfer Scheepers to a private hospital, a BackaBuddy crowdfunding campaign was opened.
Scheepers’ family and friends are reaching out to the community to help the young mother.
The driver of the BMW is still in ICU.
