Young woman’s body found in Gauteng hostel

Diepkloof Hostel residents condemned violence against women following the discovery of the young woman’s body.

Residents of Diepkloof Hostel in Gauteng, voiced their shock after the recent discovery of the body of an unknown woman in the area last week. A photo of the deceased started making the rounds on social media platforms, accompanied by a voice note explaining the gruesome conditions in which the body was discovered.

The victim is described as young African woman with short hair that was dyed blonde. She was wearing a blue jacket, black shirt, and trousers and was wrapped in plastic. Hostel residents, who could not identify the deceased, allege that she was killed somewhere else and later dumped in the hostel to make it look like she died there.

People who live in the hostel as well as other Soweto residents took to social media to raise their frustrations over this latest act of violence. They condemned GBV and alleged that those who committed the murder wanted to taint the image of the hostel.

Police were called to the scene and are currently investigating the case.
