Jaecoo J7 revolutionises urban off-roading in South Africa

Introducing the Jaecoo J7, a new car in the South African market that offers advanced features and is priced at R549 900. It promises a combination of elegance, high performance and excitement.

The anticipated Jaecoo J7 has officially landed in South Africa, marking the debut of the new urban off-road SUV brand in the region. With its futuristic design and innovative technology, the J7 is set to make waves in the local automotive scene, offering three variants starting from just R549 900.

Tony Liu, executive deputy general manager of Chery/Omoda & Jaecoo South Africa, describes the J7 as a true embodiment of the brand’s ethos of ‘From Classic, Beyond Classic’. South Africa becomes the first right hand-drive market and the inaugural destination in Africa to experience the J7’s exciting features.

Featuring a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine generating 145kW and 290Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, all J7 models promise spirited performance. The entry-level Vortex and mid-tier Glacier variants deliver power to the front axle, while the range-topping Inferno boasts all-wheel drive with the all-road drive intelligent system (Ardis).

Ardis transforms off-road driving with seven driving modes, enabling seamless navigation across diverse terrains. With impressive capabilities like a 21° approach angle, a 29° departure angle, 200mm ground clearance and 600mm wading depth, the J7 ensures confidence in any environment.

Each J7 variant comes generously equipped with advanced features. Even the base Vortex trim boasts power-adjustable front seats, a 13.2-inch touchscreen, a 360° panoramic camera, wireless smartphone charging and LED headlamps, among others. The Glacier model elevates the experience with larger alloys, a 14.8-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof and a suite of driver-assistance systems.

At the helm, the flagship Inferno impresses with the Ardis system, heated leather steering wheel and privacy glass, offering luxury and capability. Shannon Gahagan, national brand and marketing manager for Omoda & Jaecoo South Africa, anticipates that the J7 will ignite a new trend in urban off-roading.

Khavhagali Vhalinavho of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature highlighted environmental conservation efforts, aligning with Jaecoo’s sustainability vision.

Liu reaffirmed Jaecoo’s commitment to eco-friendly adventures, stating: “We’re dedicated to providing a greener off-road experience for the urban elite, in harmony with our customers’ values.”

The J7’s pricing starts at R549 900, making it an attractive option for enthusiasts seeking unparalleled performance and luxury in the urban off-roading segment.
