Autogas: A cleaner, cheaper fuel alternative

The Automotive Remanufacturers Association and Motor Industry Workshop Association are championing liquefied petroleum gas as a sustainable and cost-effective fuel solution.

The recent Automechanika and Futuroad Expo in Nasrec highlighted the potential of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), commonly known as Autogas, as a viable alternative to traditional fuels.

This cleaner and more affordable fuel option can potentially revolutionise the automotive industry in South Africa.

Why choose Autogas?

• Cost-effective: LPG is generally cheaper than petrol and diesel, leading to significant savings on fuel expenses.

• Environmental benefits: It produces fewer harmful emissions, reduces air pollution, and contributes to a cleaner environment.

• Tax incentives: Certain tax benefits and rebates may be available for LPG conversions.

• Enhanced engine performance: Autogas can improve engine performance and reduce wear and tear.

• Reduced fuel theft: LPG is less subject to theft than traditional fuels.

This technology attracted much attention at Automechanika.

How does it work?

LPG systems can be configured as either bi-fuel or dual-fuel. Bi-fuel systems allow you to switch between LPG and petrol or diesel, while dual-fuel systems can blend the two fuels for optimal performance.

The future of Autogas

The future of LPG in South Africa looks promising. With growing infrastructure, increased awareness and supportive government policies, more and more people are embracing this clean and economical fuel option.

By converting to LPG, you can contribute to a greener future while saving money.
