UD Trucks Southern Africa (UDTSA) celebrated its 90th anniversary globally and its significant local presence since 1962 at its annual press conference.

UD Trucks recently celebrated its 90th anniversary by highlighting the brand’s performance, product enhancements, and commitment to its “Better Life” vision.

Strong performance and customer focus

Despite challenging market conditions, UDTSA reported commendable results, including a market share increase and strong growth in service agreements. Managing director Filip Van den Heede emphasised the company’s dedication to supporting customers through a robust dealer network, excellent OEM support, and improved uptime.

Product enhancements and innovation

UDTSA continues to refine its product lineup to meet evolving customer needs and industry standards. The Quon range has received safety and uptime enhancements, including advanced driver assistance systems.

Sales director Rory Schultz reiterated the brand’s commitment to being customers’ ultimate business partner. UD Trucks is also actively exploring new energy vehicle (NEV) technologies.

Maximising uptime and profitability

UDTSA prioritises maximising uptime and profitability for its customers. Service agreements, predictive maintenance, and a dedicated parts supply system contribute to minimising downtime and maximising vehicle utilisation.

UD Connected Services and Genuine Service further support operational efficiency and vehicle health. A 24/7 roadside assistance call centre, and a nationwide dealer network ensure expert support is always available.

Industry recognition and transformation

UDTSA’s commitment to excellence has been recognised by naamsa, The Automotive Business Council, with awards for job creation, youth empowerment, and women empowerment in the medium-heavy commercial vehicle sector.

The brand also received a gold award from the National Automobile Dealers’ Association (NADA) for its strong dealer relationships and aftermarket support.

A commitment to a better life

Guided by its “Better Life” purpose, UDTSA is actively involved in community initiatives. The company expanded its partnership with the Commercial Transport Academy (CTA), sponsoring a new bus for their driver development programme.

UDTSA also participated in the inaugural Truck Driver Safety and Wellness Symposium and partnered with SaferStops Association to donate winter hampers to truck drivers.
